In class, September 8th, we were giving to articles to look at in which one was Obama's speech about education to the children in Virginia and the second on was cons about his speech. I feel that there was not anything wrong with what Obama said. As a president I feel that he targeted the main thing that children should be focused on, education. Most importantly he feels that EVERYONE has an write to an education, no matter where they are from or how they look which some time people let these things stop them.

At Obama`s speech about education, we are encouraged to keep stuyding because that is the only way to get progress and success in the life. We will get a better world keeping our minds educated.

regarding the article about the president's intended speech to school children, all parents have the option to keep thier kids from school. if they feel the president did not follow screening prodedures, the option to keep the kids from school is well warranted. however, the presidnet not once said he would indoctrinate anyone into socialism. that was likely not his intention. his intention was to discuss the importance of education and responsibility.

piping the speech into the classroom was voluntary only based on the decision of each individual school. it appears the president is getting a lot of flack thanks to negativity from radio talk show hosts. i personally feel good about the president's chances of succeeding in his policies given the toxic actions of the senator from south carolina and the radio talk show host from kansas city.

In the Obama's speech, he advised children to keep studying. He also wants to show children that if they keep studying they going to have better opportunities in this competitive world.

why is the obama's speech bringing so much controversy when all he did is address the students of the country about staying in school, work hard, and stay focus. Obama is not the first president to do a speech on education but for some reason some parents and teachers feel as though he is discussing socialism which in my opinion he didn't. Well at least they have the choice of letting their children see it or not. But then again how do you tell your kids that you dont want them to see the president's speech that some of their friends probably saw.

I dont see whats the big deal with President Obama making a speech to encourage all kids around the world to stay in school and to be productive. Its not like he's the first and last President to ever make a speech about education. I just feel like it's so much mare than the speech, I mean come on I know that parents have a right to let there kids see and hear what they want them to, but I didn't see anything negative come out of his speech that he made on Sept 8. Parents should be gracious that there kids have some one to look up to regardless of what race the President maybe. He is a great example for all kids around the world , know they actually have some one that they can look up to and beileve and see the struggle that he has went through. I personally think that the speech should of been a mandatory thinhg because I really didnt see the harm in kids listening to the speeech.

Candide( the protagonist):
I think Candide is a unrealistic and naive guy but he expresses a lot optimism. Pangloss taught him that the world is " the best of all possible worlds" but Candide had to confroted a wide variety of misfortunes.

I didn't understand the controvery surrounding President Obama's speech to the students of the United States.I beleive some people are afraid of change and the inclusion of all persons into mainstream america. l believe the fears are derived from the fore seen enlighten that will be obtained by indiviluals who were once considered unworthy of attaining an education.

Candide was very insightful. I appreciated how Voltaire displayed the process of cause and effect by way of rationalization.

I feel that the story is a right of passage for youth, that’s for young men and not the young women. He touches on females when he talks about the education of Sophie, which is Emile's wife to be when it comes to education he believes that a child should have more of a natural education, and that the child’s education should come more from interactions with the world instead of books. There is an example in the book with a boy and his father flying a kite, and asks his son to complete a task that he has never done before but the boy is able to complete the task from other interactions the he has been through within the world.

regarding candide, digesting stories of eunochs, canibals, etc. can add pain to the assignment. thankfully moments of philosophy, caring, trust, and optimism bring balance if a reader needs it.

Faust is a good example of how the extreme ambition to get things easily can be our first enemy. The best thing to do when someone feels unsatisfied and frustated is to keep fighting and never give up. It is good to be ambitous but it has a limit. We can get whatever we want if we work, study and think positively.

Faust is a really interesting book, it shows how someone who knows and has acomplished so much can feel miserable, and empty in the inside. He felt that his life was meaningless and he was about to give his soul to the devil in order to get something better. In reality, this book shows how people can sometimes feel so bad about themself that they would do just about anything to make themselves feel better.

faust gave me the impression that he was understanding the devil as if he was not evil but doing his job. I have not read a lot but so far reading this brings to mind Sir William Blake his theory about the devil and the of him (need and purpose)
